Dowagiac's Greg Blomgren named new coach

(St. Joseph) -- St. Joseph High School named Greg Blomgren as the new boys basketball coach. Blomgren has spent the last six seasons at Dowagiac high school coaching both the boys and girls teams at Dowagiac, including both during the 2007-08 school year. Blomgren had a record of 45-86 as the boys head coach. As the girls head coach, he went 41-27 over those three seasons, including a school record 19 wins 2007-08, and Dowagiac's first girls district title. Blomgren takes over from Gregg Schaffer who stepped down in late April with a record of 133-111 and three district titles. Prior to coming to Dowagiac, Blomgren spent two seasons at Clear Lake, Iowa, where he went 26-19, he also coached a Catholic Memorial in Waukesha, Wisconsin . Blomgren's first game as head coach will be on Tuesday, December 8th at Buchanan.  He is married to former Brandywine volleyball standout Angela (Crouch) Blomgren.
